Swedish Royal Army Telegraph Corps Flying Company

The Swedish Royal Army Telegraph Corps Flying Company based its insignia on the Royal Army Telegraph Corps Balloon Company insignia. The "Flying Company" insignia, featuring a centrally located button with a twin-blade propeller (on a 50hp rotating Gnôme engine) design and four pairs of lightning bolts protruding from the centre piece, was used by the 5th Company of the Field Telegraph Corps – i.e., the “Flying Company”, the embryo of the Royal Swedish Air Force – during the period of 1916 to 1926. The badge was worn on the m/10 tricorn uniform hat. The centrepiece, the “propeller button” (formerly button m/16) is today in use as the uniform button m/1994 of the Swedish Army Air Corps.
